NYPD HEROES TO LEAD POST PARADE ON BELMONT STAKES DAY

 

ELMONT, N.Y. – The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) has announced that New York Police Department officers Wayne Rhatigan and Pam Duffy, along with the their horses, Miggs and Dirk, respectively, will lead the post parade for the Grade 1 Woodford Reserve Manhattan Handicap on Belmont Stakes Day, Saturday, June 5.

 

Officers Rhatigan and Duffy acted quickly on Saturday, May 1, when they were notified of a suspicious vehicle in Times Square, which turned out to be a crude car bomb.

 

“The quick thinking and action of Officers Rhatigan and Duffy undoubtedly saved the lives of hundreds of citizens,” said NYRA President and CEO Charles Hayward. “We are honored that they, along with their equine counterparts, will lead the post parade for the Woodford Reserve Manhattan Handicap.”

 

Post time for the Woodford Reserve Manhattan Handicap, the 10th race on the Belmont Stakes Day card, is 5:36 p.m. EDT, with the 142nd running of the Grade 1, $1 million Belmont Stakes going off at 6:32 p.m. ESPN will carry coverage of Belmont Stakes Day from noon – 5 p.m., with ABC covering the day from 5 – 7 p.m.
