MIKE LEE QUOTES
John Kimmel, winning trainer of Friend Or Foe (No. 6): “We didn’t want to let [General Maximus] get away too far. Rajiv said he was ratable and could have taken him further off if he wanted to, but he didn’t want to give [General Maximus] too much of an advantage. [Friend Or Foe] has a lot of tactical speed if you need it, but he’s also relaxed enough that you can settle him. Rajiv said it took until the three-quarter pole to pull him up. We’ll see how he’s doing, but we’re thinking bigger and better things.”
Rajiv Maragh, winning jockey aboard Friend Or Foe (No. 6): “I fell into the spot I wanted. I had an ideal post to track General Maximus. Down the backside, the horse was moving very comfortably. It was going to be a good horse race down the stretch, and my horse just prevailed. We think he’s a good horse. After running so strong a seven-furlong race, he galloped out an extra three-eighths of a mile, which to me is a good indication he will go further.”
