BELMONT STAKES FLASH NOTES

 

  • Belmont Stakes contender Stay Put worked five furlongs in 50.62 Sunday morning over the main track in preparation for Saturday’s 142nd running of the “Test of the Champion.” Exercise rider Loren Diego was aboard for the move, which took place promptly after the renovation break at 9 a.m.

 

  • At Saratoga, Hall of Famer Nick Zito put the finishing touches on the second of his two Belmont contenders as Grade 2 Dwyer winner Fly Down went a half-mile in a brisk 47.50, galloping out five furlongs in 1:01.15.

 

  • Scheduled to work Monday morning at Belmont Park are Belmont hopefuls Drosselmeyer and Make Music for Me, with Stately Victor slated to have his final tune-up on Tuesday morning.
