BELMONT STAKES FLASH NOTES

 

• Belmont Stakes contender Stay Put worked five furlongs in 50.62 Sunday morning over the main track in preparation for Saturday’s 142^nd running of the “Test of the Champion.” Exercise rider Loren Diego was aboard for the move, which took place promptly after the renovation break at 9 a.m.

 

• At Saratoga, Hall of Famer Nick Zito put the finishing touches on the second of his two Belmont contenders as Grade 2 Dwyer winner Fly Down went a half-mile in a brisk 47.50, galloping out five furlongs in 1:01.15.

 

• Scheduled to work Monday morning at Belmont Park are Belmont hopefuls Drosselmeyer and Make Music for Me, with Stately Victor slated to have his final tune-up on Tuesday morning.
