BEAUGAY QUOTES

Seth Benzel, winning trainer of Dynaslew (No. 6): “I couldn’t have drawn the race up any better. Eibar was a lot more patient than I was. It was a great ride. She came to us in December. She’s the type of filly where less is more; she keeps herself very fit in between races, and all we have to do is keep her happy. We’ll look at a race like the Just A Game [Grade 1, June 5, Belmont Park].”

Eibar Coa, winning rider aboard Dynaslew (No. 6): “I couldn’t dream anything better than the trip I got.  I knew I was the lone speed in the race, but for them to allow me to go that slow in front was a plus.  By the three-eighths, I knew I had a lot of horse, so I decided to just kick up and go.  I knew I was going to be tough to beat at that point, but I just didn’t want to leave any chance for them to get close to me and have something go wrong.  She ran the way I thought she could, and she won it impressively.  When I spoke to Seth this morning he was more concerned about the post parade.  She’s very nervous, very jumpy, so he just told me to warm her up and try to find a way to relax her.  That’s what I did, she was fine, and in the race she was very professional.”

FORT MARCY QUOTES

Angel Penna, Jr., winning trainer of Baletti (No. 8): “It’s always nice when you win. This horse has constantly been improving. His race in New Orleans [8th in the Grade 2 Mervin Muniz Jr. Memorial Handicap] was a little bit disappointing, but he was closer to the pace than he needed to be, and it’s difficult to win that close to the pace at the Fair Grounds. We threw the race out, and he came out of it great. I don’t know what’s next, other than we’ll keep him between a mile and a sixteenth and a mile and an eighth.”

Cornelio Velasquez, winning rider aboard Baletti (No. 8): “I had a very good trip.  I followed Coa’s horse [No. 3 Dynamoor] – he’s a tough horse a very good horse – and my horse finished up well.”
