“RIDERS UP” WITH DAVID COHEN

OZONE PARK, N.Y. – Jockey David Cohen is featured in the third installment of NYRA’s newest video series “Riders Up,” now available on demand at http://www.nyra.com/ridersup/index.shtml.

The series provides fans with a comprehensive look at the riders on the NYRA circuit, from the perspective of trainers, owners, and, of course, the jockeys themselves as they discuss their motivations and thoughts on riding in New York.

Cohen, who moved his tack to New York full time this fall, found rapid success, finishing second in the NYRA standings to the dominant Ramon Dominguez during both the Aqueduct Inner Track and Spring Meets with 87 and 19 wins, respectively.  In the video Cohen discusses why a confident rider makes for a confident horse and how he and Dominguez bring out the best in each other.  Trainer David Jacobson and assistant trainers Artie Magnuson (Kiaran McLaughlin) and Jonathan Thomas (Todd Pletcher) also weigh in on Cohen’s assertive style and preparedness.

The “Riders Up” videos can be viewed online at http://www.nyra.com/ridersup/index.shtml and also on NYRA’s YouTube page.

“Riders Up” joins “Spotlight Series,” a behind the scenes look at the people who help NYRA racing operate smoothly on a consistent basis, “Backstretch Buzz,” in which jockeys and trainers share their thoughts on topical events and news stories concerning thoroughbred racing, “Jockey Video Cards,” up-close-and-personal interviews with NYRA’s leading jockeys, and “On the Record,” candid conversations with some of New York’s most renowned trainers, as the latest in popular on-demand videos available on NYRA.com.
